BALI TRAVEL GUIDE

Bali Travel Guide - When you have decided to spend a vacation in Bali, you will find yourself at an exciting Indonesian island, which is known to be a popular tourist destination. Some of the things a visitor to this island can look forward to is the exploration of the many arts, dance, sculpture, painting, leather and metalworking, as well as music that is renowned in the area.

As a tourist, you should know that it is important to hydrate yourself due to the transition in climate. Drinking at least eight glasses of water throughout the day will help to prevent dehydration, which could slow you down and put a damper on your vacation. If you plan on walking, climbing or biking throughout the area, that amount of glasses should be increased.

When visiting Bali, you should know that the main cities in the area are Singaraja, which is a northern port; the capital, Denpasar, which can be found near the southern coast, as well as the town of Ubud, which features a variety of museums and galleries for the art enthusiast. Ubud, which is north of Denpasar, is considered to be the cultural heartbeat of Bali.

Tourists should familiarize themselves with a few key phrases from the Balinese and Indonesian languages since these are the most widely spoken languages throughout Bali. It is common to find most Balinese residents to be bi- or even tri-lingual. There shouldn’t be a problem finding someone who understands or speaks English; it is the third common language in the area. When you are ready to purchase a souvenir to bring back home, the unit of currency that you will use is called the rupiah. The bills are available in denominations of 100, 500, 1,000, 5,000, 10,000, 20,000, and 50,000. The coins are broken down into 25, 50, 100, 500, and 1,000 Rp.

When you are interested in exploring the historical aspects of the island, there are many stone temples and palaces to add to your itinerary. There are also many different rock walls with feature carved images depicting centuries-old court life. Perhaps you may want to take the time to visit some of the Hindu shrines that have left behind carvings from the 11th century. The holiest temple that you will find in Bali is Pura Besakih.
