BERMUDA TRAVEL GUIDE

Bermuda Travel Guide - When most people think of Bermuda, they may think of the mystical powers of what is called the “Bermuda Triangle.” Stories of ships disappearing without a trace in this area have been a story told for years. The “Bermuda” that tourists choose as a vacation destination is an internally self-governing island belonging to the United Kingdom. This island can be found in the Atlantic Ocean.

Tourists flock to this island to enjoy some of the most breathtaking beaches in the world. This is definitely a hot spot for sunbathing and for taking in the natural beauty of the surrounding outdoors. The combination of the sunshine, sea and sand, is enough for a tourist to lose themselves in the atmosphere.

When passing through some of the neighborhoods in Bermuda, you will notice that there are many golf and tennis opportunities that can be enjoyed during your stay. As a tourist, you should know that the restaurants and shops in the area can be quite expensive. Also, be aware that causal dress is looked down upon while in public. Bermuda is considered to be one of the wealthiest countries in the world. The island‘s average per capita income is $36,500. An interesting fact of this area is that there is no income tax and no sales tax. The area also doesn’t have any slums, nor any problems with unemployment or major crime.

When you are ready to explore some of the points of interest throughout the island, you may want to add the following places to your itinerary: Gibbs Hill Lighthouse; The Dock Yard; St. David’s Lighthouse; City Hall; St. Georges; St Peter’s Church; The Aquarium and Zoo Botanical Gardens; Crystal, Fantasy and Leamington Caves.

If you are interested in checking out some of the architectural examples throughout the area, you will find that the traditional Bermudian structures feature thick stone walls, which are required to withstand powerful hurricane winds. This is now law in the area to create structures such as these. The buildings are then painted a soft pastel color to make them appear more attractive to the eye.
