luxor TRAVEL GUIDE

Luxor Travel Guide - When you decide to make Luxor your vacation destination, you will find yourself visiting what has been dubbed the “world’s greatest open air museum.” You may ask what makes it so, but you would never question the honor if you knew of all the various attractions that can be enjoyed in the area. These attractions include the ruins of a temple complex located at Karnek, as well as the Luxor Temple and an array of interesting monuments. Luxor is also home to numerous temples and tombs, as well as the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens.

On the map, Luxor is a city within the southern area of Egypt. When you are interested in checking out Upper Egypt, this is a great place to begin your journey. Many cruises along the Nile begin and conclude at this location. The ancient city of Thebes was once a powerhouse in this area. When you are interested in enjoying a vacation in Luxor, you should know that there are plenty of things to do during your stay.

When you are situated on the East Bank, you will be able to visit such attractions like the Luxor Temple, Karnek Temple, Luxor Museum, Mummification Museum, as well as the Winter Palace Hotel. The East Bank is also where you will find the Luxor International Airport. As you reach the West Bank, many points of interest can be enjoyed. This is where the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens can be found. Memorial temples for Ramesses II and Ramesses III are located here. The Tomb of the Nobles, Deir al-Madinar, Malkata Palace, as well as the Colossi of Memnon can be found on the West Bank.

Luxor also provides just as much fun during the night as it does during the day. There are plenty of places where you can have a drink, engage in conversation or dance the night away. Happy Hour can be enjoyed from 8 to 9pm at the 2000 and Esquire Restaurant, located off of Sharia Ibn Khalid Walid. The Red Lion Disco offers expensive drinks, but great dance music. The Pisscocks Nightclub features numerous pool tables, live bands and a bar. A pool table, restaurant and a DJ can be enjoyed at Murphy’s Irish Bar.
