Tenerife Travel Guide - Out of all of the Canary Islands, the largest is considered to be the Spanish island of Tenerife, which can be located in the Atlantic Ocean, close to Africa. The island offers many places to explore, featuring more than 30 interesting municipalities. The largest city that can be found in Tenerife is Santa Cruz, which is also the capital of this destination.

There are many cities on the island that are worth a visit, but depending on why you chose this location for your vacation, you may place one area above another. Many tourists seek out the village of Guimar, which is where you will find the interesting Pyramids of Guimar. Another stop on the island is the second largest city, Puerto de la Cruz, which sees its fair share of visitors. This city offers many places to explore on foot, as well beautiful gardens to grasp a bit of relaxation. When visiting the Plaza del Charco, you will find that there are many open-air restaurants, historical buildings, churches, as well as comforting natural surroundings.

During the month of February, residents celebrate Carnival, which is one of the most important celebrations throughout the island. In June, Corpus Christi is celebrated through flowers and volcanic matter. On the 14th and 15th of August, the island holds a festival for Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria.
In November, a wine tasting festival can be enjoyed, celebrating San Andrés in Icod, La Orotava, as well as Puerto de la Cruz. Cultural events to keep in mind include the Music Festival of the Canary Islands in June; Opera Season throughout October, November and December, as well as the Sabandeño Festival in September. |
